Safety Coordinator

About the Role

We are currently looking for a Safety Coordinator to join our multi-disciplinary team in our Nisku operation. We are looking for a team-oriented individual with 2-3 years experience in a related role who can also work independently and has strong problem-solving and communication skills. As Safety Coordinator, your main goal will be to promote a safe work environment and the prevention of incidents and injuries.

Working collaboratively with our employees, supervisors, and managers in the shop, field sites and office, you will be responsible for establishing and promoting safety programs and procedures, facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety guidelines, obtaining and maintaining COR certification, and compliance with other client safety requirements and systems.

Key Responsibilities

As the Safety Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, maintaining and implementing ARJAE’s Health and Safety programs and procedures, ensuring a consistent health and safety approach in shop and field
  • Developing and maintaining safety policies and programs
  • Creating and maintaining all safety-related documentation
  • Establishing and reporting on safety-related metrics
  • Conducting daily tailgate/safety meetings and maintaining documentation
  • Improving and maintaining compliance in ISN and ComplyWorks systems
  • Enhancing safety programs and practices to secure and maintain COR Certification
  • Conducting daily inspections and observations of shop and fieldwork areas, and liaising with employees and supervisors on safety and related matters
  • Coordinating and conducting new employee orientation sessions; conducting training on safety-related topics as required
  • Completing safety and incident forms and conducting investigations as required
  • Overseeing and ensuring modified work placements are productive, consistent with restrictions, and cost-effective
  • Ensuring safety equipment and first aid and other safety supplies are stocked and maintained
  • Providing support to quality control and operations management
  • Performing other duties as assigned


  • 2-3 years experience in a shop and/or field-based safety-related role, preferably in a fabrication and field services environment
  • Education or training in a safety-related program preferred; Related safety certification an asset
  • Knowledgeable and cooperative approach to promoting safety-related programs/policies and addressing safety-related issues
  • WHMIS, CSTS and First Aid certification preferred
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Collaborative and team-oriented approach to support operations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required, and a reliable vehicle

Working Conditions

  • Fabrication shop and site/field-based work
  • Travel to customer locations/sites is required
